How FietsRadar works
FietsRadar is a free register and live map for stolen bikes in the Netherlands. Owners register their bike and report a theft in a few taps, and anyone who sees the bike can reach the owner without either of them sharing contact details.
For owners
- Register your bike. Frame number, photos, brand and colour, and the battery numbers of an e-bike. Purchase value, locks and receipt are for you only.
- Report a theft. Your bike goes on the live map and people with an alert area nearby are told.
- Share the poster. A public page showing your bike, without your name or contact details.
- File the police report. FietsRadar prepares your details for the police form.
For anyone who spots a bike
If you see a bike that looks stolen, report it with a photo and the location. If the frame number matches a stolen bike, the owner is told straight away and you can talk inside the app. If it only looks like one, you first confirm it is the same bike.
Never confront anyone you suspect. Call the police.
For buyers
The frame-number check shows in seconds whether a bike is listed as stolen on FietsRadar, and takes you on to the RDW bike-theft register. No account needed.
The municipal depots
A large share of bikes that are ‘gone’ were removed by the council. FietsRadar searches the national lost-and-found register the bike depots list their bikes in. That is free as often as you like. With a plan, FietsRadar checks every day and tells you when a new candidate appears.
Privacy
- Others see your bike, never your name, email, phone number or address.
- Every photo has the location data your phone writes into it removed, so a photo never gives away where you live.
- Messages go through the app. You choose from set messages and can add a short note.
What it costs
Registering, reporting, alerts, the poster, the frame-number check and a depot check are free. Only the daily depot check is a plan, cancellable monthly.
